Despite the fact that 5 IPL seasons had passed, the Mumbai Indians' wait for the first IPL trophy was never-ending. This team was made up of well-known players. From Harbhajan Singh  to Sachin Tendulkar had been tried as captains, but did not get success. Before the IPL 2013 season, Mumbai Indians made Ricky Ponting their captain. But luck was not on our side again, the team's ups and downs performance continued. Then the team management took a big decision in the middle of the tournament. Rohit Sharma was made the captain in place of Ricky Ponting, ultimately luck favored Mumbai Indians.

In IPL 2014, Mumbai Indians entered as the defending champion, but faced consecutive defeats in the first 5 matches. Rohit Sharma was not going to accept defeat, despite this Mumbai Indians managed to reach the playoffs. However, could not defend the title.

Mumbai Indians became champion for the second time in IPL 2015. The next year was nothing special, but in IPL 2017, the Men in Blue won the title again. In 2018, the team could not reach the playoffs, but in the next season the fans again got a chance to celebrate. MI won IPL for the fourth time. Mumbai Indians also won IPL 2020 under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma, thus Mumbai Indians became the second team to defend the title.

However, 3 seasons passed after this, but Mumbai Indians could not become champion for the sixth time. However, now Hardik Pandya has been made the captain of the team in place of Rohit Sharma. The responsibility of making Mumbai Indians win the IPL title for the sixth time is on Hardik Pandya.
